Serpent Mound - Great earthworks, shaped in the form of a serpent, located in northern Adams County, Ohio. The Serpent Mound, it has been determined, was built by the Adena people long before the arrival of Columbus. In 1900 Harvard College donated the mound to the Ohio Archeological and Historical Society. There is a smaller serpent mound near Galena, Illinois. |
