Roman Nose - A chief of the Pointed lance men Society, warrior group of the powerful Southern Cheyenne, whose Indian name was Sauts, or "Bat."  He led the attack at Aricaree Fork Colorado, in 1868, when fifty two scouts, commanded by Colonel G. A. Forsyth held off several hundred Cheyenne warriors.  Roman Nose was killed in the first day's fight.
