Rancheria
- A small village of Indians, as compared to the larger pueblos in the
Southwest. Rancherias usually were occupied by scattered tribes.
Rancheria Grande was a name applied to a large composite band of Indians
who settled on the Brazos River in Texas in the first half of the eighteenth
century, for defense and protection against the Spanish and Apache.
