Comancheros
- A rough class of frontiersmen who banded together several times a year
and went into the Plains Indian country to trade for horses and mules.
Usually the trinkets they carried for trade never exceeded twenty dollars
in value, but they did an enormous business. Frequently the Indians
stole back the animals they had traded the comancheros. As much of
their trade was in Texas with the Comanche, they thus gained their name.
