Yopon - Trader's term for a species of holly growing in the southern United States along the coast.  The tree is from ten to fifteen feet in height.  Indians, especially the Creek during their Busk Dance, prepared a beverage from the leaves.  Englishmen termed this the "black drink."  The word is also spelled "yaupon."
