Minnehara
- The heroine of Longfellow's Song of Hiawatha. The name Minnehaha
was first mentioned in the Life and legends of the Sioux, by Mrs.
Mary Eastman in 1849, and it was from this book that Longfellow took some
of the incidents for his poem. Between Fort Snelling and the Falls
of St. Anthony in Minnesota are the Little Falls, forty feet in height,
called by the Indians Minnehaha or "Water Falls."
