Conestoga Horse - A heavy draft horse which was bred in Pennsylvania in the late 1700's.  It was a cross of the Flemish carthorse and an English breed.  The horse was named from Conestoga, a village in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, which was called after one of the Iroquois tribes of that section.  These horses were much used with the famous Conestoga wagon.
